Two was first performed in 1989 for 14 characters, portrayed by two actors. It presents a touching slice of working-class life in a Lancashire pub during one evening in the 1980’s, run by a husband and wife. The play contains beautiful moments of drama, comedy, pathos, warmth and sadness. All life is present here, as between them, the two actors slip into and out of assorted customers. It reveals the heart of the communities, where people celebrate and mourn and throughout, we are confronted unflinchingly at its weaknesses and darkness as well as its heart and many spirits!
